I am married with two daughters, Shelbee and Kendall, ages 15 and 10. I was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois and moved to the Rockford area in 2004. I graduated from Peoria Manual High School in 1988 and attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. I joined Whitehead in 2005 after interviewing with several other brokerage firms. I chose Whitehead because I liked their marketing strategies, their training program and the management staff. In my first year, I closed over $2.3 million in sales. On January 25, 2007, I received the honor of being named Whitehead's "Rising Star of 2006" as a result of my first years' production as an agent. I also set a company record for the most transactions closed by a rookie. I am very proud of this honor as it was a goal I had set for myself in the beginning of 2006. My daughter thinks the trophy I received is the coolest thing she's ever seen! The fact that my family is proud of me means much more than any outside recognition I could ever receive. In 2008, I received three more awards from Whitehead, one for the making the High Achievers Council, one for Personal Best, and the last for Buyer Agency Agreements. I have made some very good friends as a result of my real estate career. Many of my clients still keep in touch long after their transaction has closed. We learn a great deal about each other during the process and I enjoy continuing the relationship! I attribute my success to the fact that I really love what I do. I have as much fun as my clients in choosing and selling their homes. It's a huge transition and I try to make it as smooth as possible while keeping them informed at all times. I don't like surprises and I make sure they aren't kept in the dark if an issue does arise. I have been told that what sets me apart from the other Realtors in this area is that I listen, I'm friendly, and I'm driven. I've been around a lot of agents and sometimes it's hard to get a word in edgewise. And, as with any profession, a few not-so-nice ones put a bad taste in the mouths of many people. Also, I'm not into pressuring someone to sell their home; if they want to sell, they already know that, they don't need a push. The same theory applies to buying. I don't drive my clients around trying to convince them which house they need. People know what they like! It's my job to search the MLS and the FSBO's and try to get as close of a match as I can. It may take seeing a few properties before I get a really good handle on what exactly they like, but it always happens. The most fulfilling part of this job is seeing their smile when they finally say YES, this is the house we love!
